Avaz 8.0 on iOS (Sep 2024) - released on 16 Sep 2024

Avaz ver 8.0 enhances communication experience for both the user and the communication partner with advanced features for improved customizability, quicker accessibility, and more engaging user interactions. With improved consistency in communication and more intuitive user interface, users can communicate more effectively and efficiently.  

Note: Minimum iOS version

• Avaz now requires a minimum of iOS ver 14 to be able to run.

New features added  

• Set Folder-level grid size
  You can now customize the grid size at folder level (variable grid sizes). This meets diverse needs with larger icons for newer concepts or more condensed layouts for more options.

• Linked Folders 
  The new feature to link existing folders makes it easier to access an existing folder from within different locations, to bring the contextually relevant folders inside specific folders. Any changes done to the content within the linked folder are applied across all linked folders, keeping them consistent and easing the maintenance effort.

• Jump to Page
  A new jump to page feature allows a selected word to automatically navigate to a specified folder, speeding up communication.

• Auto-Back
  Auto Back is a new feature of folders that speeds up communication. When enabled for   a folder, on selection of a word from that folder, it automatically navigates back to the       previous folder, saving you an extra tap.

• YouTube Video integration
  You can now add YouTube videos to Avaz (and specific sections of it), making it easier to view  videos, without having to leave the app.

• GIF Integration
  The ability to include GIFs in communication from within the app, helps with adding animations to the images, making it more engaging for the user.

Enhancements

1. Larger Grid sizes

   • This version introduces larger grid sizes with up to 117 pictures (60, 77, 96, 117), that help maintain consistent motor patterns, while switching across grid sizes so that the users can continue to grow their custom vocabulary

2. Enhanced Step Up Vocabulary 

   • This version offers an enhanced vocabulary called Step Up Vocabulary for grid sizes 60 to 117 pictures per screen with access to over 5000 words. 

   • Note: The Avaz Step Up vocabulary is currently available only if you have selected English (US) as the Language. It is NOT available for any other language selection. 

   • The existing vocabulary (previously called Avaz Pragmatic vocabulary) is now renamed as Avaz Classic Vocabulary and can be selected for grid sizes of 40 and below.

   • This vocabulary includes a frozen row of folders containing frequently used words, providing instant access to such words for quicker communication. 

3. Customizations carried across grid sizes

   • Any customizations done (in a particular grid size) are now reflected across all grid sizes. 

        4. Upload Audio Files

• You can now upload audio files, like familiar voices, custom voices or fun sound effects.

        
        5. Customizable Favorite Button

• The existing Quick button has been replaced by a customizable Favorite button on the right navigation bar, to allow the user quicker access to their frequently used folder, or to include add-on vocabulary language packs e.g. Vietnamese.
  
  

        6. Arranging words alphabetically

• You can now arrange words alphabetically within a folder. 

Changes 

1. Edit Customization

   • Basic and Advanced tabs: The Edit window user interface has a different look with the features split between Basic and Advanced tabs, to accommodate more features. 

   • Image selection: The image selection has become quicker since you can now select from an array of images displayed when you tap the Change Picture button under the Basic tab. 

2. Background color of folders

   • The folder color has been changed from light green to white, to make it more visually distinguishable from the icons. 
     
     

3. Customizable Mistake button

   • You can add custom audio to the Mistake button for making it more relevant for the user. 

4. More color gradients for icons

   • There are more variations to the existing color codes, to help in grouping them within a page, for better visual discrimination.

   • You can also change the background color of an icon or a folder, in any page of the vocabulary. The colors are limited to the set of colors as provided within the app.

Version 6.6.6 (May 2023)

New features added: 

1. Touch Accommodations (To customize touch response based on user's motor capabilities)
2. Photo Editing - Crop, rotate, choose the best picture for the word

Improvements:

1. Improved readability - long phrases and words are no longer truncated on buttons

Version 6.6.5 (16 March 2023)

Avaz AAC App on iOS (Version 6.6.5) released on 16 March 2023 is a consolidated version of all the apps of the different languages that were previously existing as individual apps! The individual language apps have been removed from the App store and will no longer be supported. 

The languages consolidated into this app includes: 

• English (US)

• English (UK)

• English (AU)

• English (India) and 6 regional languages 

• Magyar (Hungary)

• Français (France)

• Svenska (Sweden)

• Sinhalese and Tamil with English

• Føroyskt (Faroe Islands)

• Dansk (Denmark)

In the new app, you can select the language while logging in to the app or later, from Settings.

New features

1. Auto backup 
   You can now set up Avaz to automatically backup your content once in 7 days /15 days. 
2. Delete backup
   You can now delete the backups directly from within the app. 
3. Cloud backup options
   You can now backup your content to Google Drive and iCloud, in addition to Dropbox.

Avaz Pro and Lite - 5.0 - released on 30 Sept 2019

Avaz Pro and Lite - 4.4 - released on 24 Mar 2018

1. Avaz Live is now fully functional and easily accessible!
   Start an Avaz Live session and connect remotely with a therapist or a parent. You will be able to share your screen and remote control the other person's Avaz app to help them add vocabulary and modify settings to suit their need.

Avaz Pro and Lite - version 4.3 - released on 20 Sep 2017

1. AirDrop available to transfer Avaz vocabulary seamlessly across iPads.
2. Search bar to help Model a word
3. Fixed the problem for web search for images from Avaz. The problem had come up, after the third party software (from Microsoft) was not supported.

Avaz Pro version 4.2.6 and Avaz Lite 4.2.6 - released on 10 May 2017

New features added:

1. Added 60 and 77 icons / screen in Settings
2. Removed the Web Search option from Edit window in Picture mode, due to withdrawal of Bing Search API support from Microsoft.

Fxed the voice issues with the Ivona voices (mispronounced words) that some users were facing in the app.
