Avaz India (Android) users can now get more voice options for English (in Indian accent) and also for Indian languages. This is available from Avaz India version 4.2 onwards. 


You can set up Indian language voices to automatically speak the language of the text in the picture mode icons, without having to record your voice. As of now, this option is available for the following Indian languages: 

 - Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu.

Please see the updated list of languages in the app. 


To change the voice: 


For Avaz ver v6.6+

  1. Tap Menu > Settings > Voice (under Audio settings) 
  2. Scroll to Speech Service > Default Voices or Premium Voices by Readspeaker and scroll to see the list of language voices available. 
  3. Tap the play icon to listen to a sample audio. Select the language and voice of your choice.
  4. The new voice is activated.

Note: this is available only in Avaz India Android app and not in Avaz India iOS version. 


For Avaz less than ver6.6
  1. Tap on Avaz Settings.
  2. Scroll down to Audio Settings and tap Voice. You will see the Voice Selection window as shown in the screenshot below.
  3. This allows you to change the following: 
    1. Language - the default is English(Indian accent) but you can change it to any other language, including Indian languages, as mentioned above. 
    2. Spoken Voice - you can select from the list of available voices for the selected language. 
    3. Speed of voice - you can set the speed of speech, when the text is spoken
    4. Pitch of voice - you can vary the pitch of the voice to make it more appropriate for the child's age. 
  4. A combination of the above options can help you setup a voice that can be suited for any individual.

        5. You can adjust the above options and test the voice by tapping the LISTEN button.
      6. Once you are satisfied with the voice, you can save it with the SAVE button. 

      7. Change Text to Speech Provider - This option is set to a default voice (e.g. Google Text-to-            Speech), but this can vary depending on the device manufacturer. This option allows you             to change the voice to a 3rd party voice that you can downloaded independently to your         device.
 


To use Indian language voices

To use the above, you can edit the text in the picture mode and change it to the language of your choice, using the keyboard and set the voice to the same language. When you tap the word, it speaks using the Text-to-speech in the selected language.
