YouTube integration is a new feature introduced from Avaz version 8.0. 

You can add / assign any YouTube video to a word in the Picture vocabulary, so that the video is played from within the app(in a pop-up window), when the word is tapped / selected. 

You can search for videos from within the app, to fetch the correct URL. You can also set the video to play brief snippets (up to 5 minutes) of the videos, without exiting the app. This feature is especially beneficial for emergent communicators, serving as a helpful tool for visual learners and gestalt language processors (GLPs). 

Note:

• You can only view these videos added when you are connected to an active internet. In the absence of internet, the video does not play, but the audio of the message is played out. 
• Also, the videos need to be public to be able to be played by the app, private videos are not viewable from the app. 
  
  How to set up YouTube integration in Avaz?

1. Navigate to Menu > Edit Words.
2. Tap on Add New. Select Word to add a new word.
   
    
3. In the Word box, add the word favorite song.Tap on Advanced tab.
   
   
   
   
4. Tap on Actions. Select YouTube Videos from Add action button.
   
   
   
5. Search video in the YouTube link search box or paste URL link.
   
   
   
   
6. Select your preferred video and tap on Save at the top right corner.
   
   
   
7. This will take you back to the Update word screen where you can do the following:
   - Set the start time of the video using Set Start 
   - Set the end time of the video using Set End 
   - Preview the video
   - Reset the duration, if needed to re-enter the video timings. 
   Yyou can refine the timestamp by clicking in the input box. You will get a time wheel pop up for refining the time stamp.
   
   

   
   

   Note: You will get an error alert if the selected clip is above five minutes

   
   
   

    
8. Once you are done with the above settings, tap Save on top right corner. This will save the video for this word.

11. Whenever you tap on the icon (word), the video will play on the screen. You can close it by tapping on "X" mark.
    
    
    
    

    Note:
    1. Pasting a wrong URL in the YouTube search bar takes you to the video search page.
    
    This shows similar videos for you to select. 

    
    
    

    
    

    If internet is not available

YouTube video will not play if internet is not available, however you can play a custom audio instead. You can add the custom audio to the same YouTube word button, for offline audio play, either by adding an audio file or recording a voice. For example, you can upload the audio file of Wheels on the bus, from your device.

When you tap on the icon linked to YouTube video without internet, your custom audio will play but the video will not, due to non-availability of the internet. The alert message would be "Internet connection is required to watch the video".
