The Home Screen is the screen or page or folder that the app goes to, when you tap the Home button (on the right navigation panel).

By setting up the Home screen, you can restrict the user to a specific suitable vocabulary for the user, preventing navigation and access to other vocabulary within the app that are not suitable for the user.

How to set up Home Screen:

For Avaz ver 6.6+

  1. Tap on Menu > Settings > Home screen vocabulary
  2. Select the folder / vocabulary level to set as Home Screen.

This restrict the user to a specific, suitable vocabulary on the Home screen by locking the app to a specific set of words, preventing navigation and access to other vocabulary within the app which is unsuitable for the user.

  1. Tap the Settings icon on the top menu bar.
  2. Scroll down and tap Home Screen.
  3. Select the level of vocabulary that you want to use - Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3 or any other custom folders that you may have created.
  4. Note: for Avaz India, Avaz Dansk and Avaz Australia, you can set up the folders of Getting Started, Basic, or Advanced as the levels of vocabulary.
  5. Tap anywhere on the screen to exit the setting.

Note: How to make custom vocabulary accessible across vocabulary levels

  • When you move change the vocabulary level in Settings or move from one level to another (or change pictures per screen), any custom vocabulary created in the previous level does not reflect in the changed level.
  • As you change the vocabulary level, the default folders remain the same, however the custom folders need to be copied in order to be accessible at the new level.
  • Also, you may have to re-arrange the icons after moving it to the new level, in order to retain the same motor patterns that the user is already used to.
